Inocybe tigrina Heim. Cap 2–4cm across, conical soon flat with prominent umbo, pale buff and broken up into coarse fibrous scales. Stem 30–60 x 2–5mm, pallid ochraceous flushed flesh-colour, swollen at the base. Flesh white, unchanging. Taste mild, smell not distinctive. Gills adnate, pale clay with white edge. Cystidia thick-walled elongate-fusoid with apical encrustation. Spore print snuff-brown. Spores smooth, almond-shaped, 8–11 x 5–6.5µ. Habitat with conifers. Season autumn. Frequent. Not edible most Inocybes have been found to contain toxins. Distribution Europe.
